Who am I? I don’t know, but I am happy!!!

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 7, 2009, 2:22 PM

I was recently tagged by dear :iconiribel: and I though it would be fun to share some facts about myself. So, here I go:

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 10 things about themselves on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 10 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

:pointr: My real name is Josiane, I am 35 years old, I live in Brazil and I can’t imagine living in another place. Nathalie Bennet is the name of my RPG character and as I used to feel uncomfortable using my real name at the web, I borrowed hers. Now it’s too late to change.

:pointr: My daughter looks like so much to me. Sometimes we dressed very similar and go shopping. It’s so funny the way people stare at us when them heard her call me Mom. Some of them even ask about it :giggle:

:pointr: I used to be a huge fan of HP series. I have read the books more than 20 times each and helped run the second biggest Brazil’s HP fansite (now it’s closed). I also was hired by a huge mall to make an event in celebration of the last book release and by a magazine to help them to make a special edition.

:pointr: I love ancient history, legends and learn about different cultures. Sometimes I have to stop myself asking people here: Hey, how is living in your country.

:pointr: I don’t like crowd. I mean, I like people as individual, so I can talk to them, know them better and so. Being in a crowed place like discos is not my thing.

:pointr: I was going to be a ballerina. I was studying and work hard to achieve it but I was involved in a car crash when I was 18 and had my left kneed injured really bad. I have never been able to dance like I used to before this.

:pointr: Cooking is one of the things that most calm me down. More complicated the recipe is, more calm I fell. Oh, and people usually like the results

:pointr: I don’t drink alcoholic drinks, exception to a good wine in special occasions. And in these special occasions, I just need one glass of wine to fell my legs like jelly and start giggling like mad. :giggle:

:pointr: I wrote my first book when I was seventeen but I never got published. I just love writing. Now a days, I am working in a PBF RPG site strongly based on Lord of the Rings and The Inherence Cycle.

:pointr: And…. I just won 4th. place at *mizzd-stock Autumn & Halloween Contest. I am soooo happy!!!

Here is my winning piece

And the kind words Ida has written about my work:

”I loved the soft and dreamy autumn tones to this art work immediately, and thus I decided to have two 4th place winners instead of one this time! I am truly excited to include this art work amongst my winners!”

I am not going to tag anyone, but if you like this game consider yourself tagged :huggle:

3H - Here, at Home and Hollow

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 5, 2009, 11:31 AM

Hi everyone!!!

I am spending a period at home. My doctor thought I was not reacting to the medication I was taking, so he changed everything and ask me to stay at home. I didn’t want to, I mean, I left my job to make a doctor appointment and the next day I returned and said ”Guess what? I am not working on the next 15 days!!!”. I know some people disagree but, I just couldn’t do that. So I worked two days to finish the most important task and here I am, at home now.

I though I would enjoy staying home and creating art but, the fact is that I am empty, hollow. I started no less than 13 pieces – yes, you saw it right, I said 13 – but I couldn’t finishing any one them. I don’t know why. I just feel I am not like you guys, who make wonderful pieces of art, who are always amazing me with creativity. I think I am facing this block because I received a very hard feedback about my work: I don’t know why you bother continuing making this. Your works are always the same. You have a woman with wings and hair like this. That’s it! Yes, I know I shouldn’t listen to him but… it’s hard, you know? When someone you love come and make a comment in such mockery way about something you were proud of. Well, I guess it’s life. I should have been used to it right now.

Oh God, such a depressing journal!!! Let go and cheer it up a bit!!! It’s feature time!!!

Art in Brazil + First colab + Tough mermaid + Feat

Thu Aug 20, 2009, 2:20 PM

Art in Brazil. I won a contest but…

Those of you who have read my last journal know that I decided to enter into a contest to create a company’s mascot. Well, so I did and won first place (an ipod). Yes, I am very happy but I would be happier if they hadn’t been so suspicious about me. They actually though I had picked the mascot on the net and just made some minor changes on it. They actually told me the art was too perfect to have been done by me. I had to prove I could have made it by myself and just after that they chanced their speech. The problem is how this kind of art is faced here in Brazil. In fact, mostly of people here don’t even consider what we do as art. Mostly of the people here don’t have a clue what words like tablet, photoshop, digital art, airbrush, etc, means. That’s reminder me something I read in a =ShidoEV journal, about Brazilian artists not charging for their works. If you are Brazilian or can speak Portuguese, take a look at it, it’s really worthwhile:

Well, on the bright side I have an ipod now

My very first collaboration work.

In the beginning of this month I had a pleasant surprise. I received an invitation from dear =CherishedMemories to work along her in a collaboration. I was thrilled because I always wanted to work on a colab, besides, work with Cheri was a double pleasure. She is a wonderful human being and amazing artist. And it was a very gratifying experience, the way the work started and was changing according to our different point of views. Cheri, thank you so much dear!!!

Here are some amazing works from her galley:

Tough Mermaid

I never thought mermaids could be so tough… to make!!! I am working on one for about a month. In fact, it should have been a birthday gift for my angel *DoctorEvil06, but I couldn’t finish it on time. I have change model tree times to get to pose I want. Well, after all this time I managed to paint her mertail (the hardest part I hope) and now I “just” need to work on her skin, face, hair, accessories and background. I just wish I will be able to submit it this month =D

That’s all folks!!!

Oh yeah, I have changed CCS again because although I liked the old one very much, the header just disappeared. But is one is also nice

And I just want to say “thank you so much” for all the :+fav:’s , :+devwatch:, comments, visits and specially the support you give me. That’s all very important and appreciated.

And now, the best part of my journal… FEATURES!!! =D

Please do not be mad at me

I don’t know. Just feel like talking to somebody now. My art is stopped again. I have began 3 different pieces but can’t go on, I don’t know why. I just can’t finished them, that’s it. Maybe it’s the weather, because it’s dawn cold here. Ok, ok, I confess. It’s “just” 10ºC degrees. I know for some European places that’s not big deal but really… I am frozen.

I have so many things to do but no energy at all. And I hate it.

I have been receiving so many love from you people. Lovely comments, help, notes, dedications and gifts. I am so sorry if I am taking to answer you than I should taken but I just can’t do it properly now. And I want to show you all my appreciation, that’s why I am waiting this “black cloud” go away.

Contest in real life

As some of you know, I have a full day job that’s there is nothing to do with art. Ok, ok, sometime I make some technical illustration but that’s not can be considered art. The point is that the company is holding a contest to choose a mascot the one of its project. The first place is going to win an ipod. Just now that I am with this blocking-thing.

Amazing feature

TechnoRenaissance and Interview

I couldn’t help myself. I had to buy a sub to tell you all about this, I am so exited!!! I was interviewed about something I never dreamed I was part of. Jennifer is a very kind and supportive person and the better way to describe her is using her own words: ”I am an independent scholar and I'm writing a book about something I'm calling the "TechnoRenaissance" to describe what is happening to the world of ideas and art as a result of the information age”.

And she asked me to talk about it, isn’t it incredible? It was very nice to make this interview, it gave me the opportunity to think about the background world of digital art. The interview – and also her clever words about the theme – are now published in her blog.

Please, take a look at it and comment if you like. Show your friends also. There we talk about some important issue for us all like the ethical dilemma of separate “been affected by” and “made a copy of”, popularity and others.

Thank you so much

I have been away from dA lately, mainly because it was blocked on the company I work at and now I just have few hours per week to check my messages, answer your supportive comments, thanks your awesome favorites and do my watch.

But I’d like you to know that your support is very much appreciated. Your time to see my art, comment, fav’s, all this is very important for me. I’ll never be able to thank you enough for all the love I got here.
